Painting flower pots to discover our different paths

Someone’s pride in life.  Sometimes just getting together over flower pots can be an opportunity to become a new friend .  Stewart has lived in the building for 10 years. What is wonderful about Stewart is that he is a warm man who is very smart.  Today for the first time he described what he did in his work life. He was a dentist with his own practice that he took over from his father.  Hearing him talk about his career and family history was the first time those who have known him now know things about him.  People making flower pots are given a door to walk through to meet their long time neighbor anew.  Sharing his trip on his yellow brick road!

Learning and growing 

Yesterday I was asked to come to a writing club designed for senior citizens to tell their stories . Each week they write a story about their life and then share it by reading it to the group. The group is very bright with women who are for the most part in their seventies. Their stories go from when they are young to what happened with friends.  My experience was great that I could see how open they had become in sharing their life experiences. I came to the group and they were so interested in what made me write the book and the reason for the books. I began reading the prologue and continued on through the second chapter.  When I was in  a store one of the woman came up to me and told me how much she appreciated the reading and could not wait to have the book. She told me that she felt people would be inspired because she was. She told me that she gets upset about being old but after hearing a short reading she realized that she knows how to make herself happy and so she was determined that she would “mobilize” herself to but energy into her step and heart!
